An event dedicated to the works of Ukrainian writer, photo artist, and Armed Forces serviceman Vitalii ZAPEKA was held at the Central City Library of Dnipro. Among the attendees were cadets from the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, who joined admirers of the artist’s work.
Vitalii ZAPEKA is a renowned author of war prose, best known for his satirical war novel Heroes, Antiheroes, and Not So Much, the short story collection Boom in the Head, and the intellectual dystopian novel Absurd. His writing style is characterized by deep psychological insight and irony, blended with profound philosophical reflections.
During the meeting, cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine engaged in an in-depth discussion of the author’s works, noting the striking realism with which he portrays the struggle of Ukrainian soldiers for independence. His personal accounts of combat experiences left a lasting impression on the audience.
Special attention was given to the role of art during times of historical challenges and the significance of artists in shaping national identity. Vitalii ZAPEKA emphasized that art is not only a means of reflecting reality but also a powerful psychological tool that helps reframe events and provides the strength to move forward.
Despite an air raid alert, participants continued viewing materials in a secure shelter. According to the cadets, Vitalii Zapeka’s work once again proves that words and art can serve as a powerful weapon in the fight for truth and national consciousness.
