Participants of the Speaking Club at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs discussed various types of food, the peculiarities of national cuisines, and expanded their vocabulary with new gastronomic terms.
The meetings of the club are organized by DSUIA’s Department of Language Training. This time, the academic staff prepared a topic aimed at helping participants navigate menus in foreign restaurants.
Attendees recalled the English names of familiar vegetables, fruits, and dishes, as well as how to communicate with English-speaking colleagues on culinary topics.
Using English, club members shared their own gastronomic preferences, learned new words, and explored idiomatic expressions related to the meeting’s theme.
As part of the Speaking Club, Grammar Booster elective sessions are held every Wednesday, focusing on the practical application of grammar rules. Teachers help participants tackle complex topics, including verb tenses, conditional sentences, modal verbs, and other challenging aspects of English. These sessions incorporate interactive learning methods, such as group work, games, tests, and real-life scenario analysis.
