The event was organized by the Department of Criminal Procedure for students of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine.
The speakers of the binary lecture were Gediminas BUCIUNAS, Senior Advisor on Prosecution at the Lviv Field Office of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM), and Viktoriia ROGALSKA, Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure at DSUIA and Police Major.
The lecture covered key aspects of pre-trial investigation under martial law, cooperation between national pre-trial investigation bodies and the International Criminal Court, the specifics of documenting international crimes, and the application of European standards in war crimes investigations.
Students had the opportunity to ask the speakers questions and receive practice-oriented recommendations from the international expert regarding the interrogation of victims of war crimes, particularly sexual violence related to conflict. These recommendations were based on the procedural interview methodology under the PEACE model, which is a recognized standard in the International Criminal Court.
The event provided valuable insights and practical skills necessary for cadets to work effectively under modern challenges.
