A Step into the Future: A Ukrainian Armed Forces Veteran Gains Driving Skills After Injury

NEWS

A military veteran who lost a limb has obtained a driver’s license at the DSUIA Driving School for People with Disabilities. The veteran was congratulated by Vice-Rector, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor KOVALYOV.

Despite sustaining a severe injury during Russia’s full-scale aggression, Oleksandr did not give up and continues to move forward. One of the steps toward new opportunities was his training at the Driving School for People with Disabilities, based at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

After suffering a serious injury, he did not lose faith in himself. On the contrary, he proved that no circumstances can stand in the way of an active life. Thanks to specially equipped vehicles and professional instructors at DSUIA’s driving school, the veteran successfully completed his training and obtained a category “B” driver’s license.

The driving school project is part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment and is implemented under the “Without Barriers” initiative by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska. The project helps people with disabilities adapt to new realities and regain mobility.

Oleksandr’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the pursuit of independence. He proves that no life challenges can break a person who has a goal and support.
