The event was attended by representatives of the Scientific Society of Higher Education Students at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The Deputy Director of the “Istyna” Legal Clinic, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law Disciplines at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of DSUIA, Roman Karpenko, along with Professor of the same department, Liliia Zolotukhina, introduced the cadets to the principles of the clinic’s work.
Cadets were informed about the activities of the “Istyna” Legal Clinic, established at DSUIA. The clinic provides consultations on various areas of law, including legal assistance for combat veterans and internally displaced persons, as well as support for families of prisoners of war, fallen soldiers, and missing persons. It was emphasized that legal support can also be obtained at the Advisory Center for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Ukraine’s Defenders. This center engages academic staff, legal practitioners, and DSUIA students in its work.
Additionally, the meeting covered the extrajudicial resolution of conflicts through mediation. Cadets learned how a neutral third party—a mediator—guides the process, helping the involved parties reach a mutually acceptable solution.
The participants gained valuable knowledge on the use of mediation in the professional activities of lawyers and police officers. They also practiced negotiation techniques aimed at achieving compromise through direct discussion between conflicting parties.
