A binary training session on investigating criminal proceedings involving children who have suffered or witnessed criminal offenses was held at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The event’s speakers were Mykola YEFIMOV, Professor of the Department of Criminalistics and Pre-Medical Training, and Olena SLIPETS, a forensic expert from the Donetsk Research and Forensic Science Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. They emphasized that criminal proceedings involving child witnesses or victims require a comprehensive and responsible approach from all organizations involved in the process. A critical aspect is ensuring psychologically comfortable conditions for the child, particularly during testimony.
During the session, Olena SLIPETS shared her extensive experience in forensic science, providing professional advice on formulating expert questions concerning different categories of children. She also answered questions and presented several practical examples that helped cadets better understand the sensitivity of working in such cases.
