At the first stage, participants watched a presentation about the life of Taras Shevchenko. Following the viewing, they split into two teams to compete in their knowledge of the writer’s works.
In the first round, participants showcased their understanding of the Kobzar’s biography, recalling details such as Taras Shevchenko’s origins as a serf, his birth in Cherkasy region, his liberation from bondage with the help of intellectuals, his education, and other pivotal moments of his life.
The second round focused on key dates in the poet’s life and career. The teams answered questions about Shevchenko’s appointment as an academician, his arrests, exile, journey across the Aral Sea, and other significant events.
Additionally, participants identified Shevchenko’s works from provided excerpts, filled in missing parts of quotes, composed proverbs about the Kobzar, and recited his poetic creations.
Summing up the game-contest, the organizers emphasized that understanding the life and works of Taras Shevchenko is a vital step for today’s youth in appreciating Ukrainian culture, history, and national identity.
