Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) held a binary class focused on the operation of a device that records physiological changes in a person while answering questions (polygraph).

The event was opened by DSUIA First Vice-Rector Ihor Mahdalina.

The session brought together third-year students from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pretrial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, as well as academic staff from the Department of Criminalistics and Pre-Medical Training at DSUIA.

The class was led by experienced polygraph examiners: Roman Klymenko, Assistant to the Head of the Department for Supporting the Activities of the Head of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU), Police Lieutenant Colonel, and Yuliia Volkova, Assistant to the Head of the NPU, Police Lieutenant Colonel. They highlighted the relevance of using polygraphs during martial law, emphasizing its value in crime investigations and personnel management.

The examiners demonstrated how the polygraph detects bodily responses to questions. For the practical segment, one participant from the audience was selected, connected to the device, and asked a series of questions.

Following the demonstration, the lecturers explained the device’s operating principles in detail and answered students’ questions. The event provided valuable insights for future law enforcement officers, enhancing their understanding of criminalistics.
