In their free time from studies, cadets of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs explore cultural phenomena and prominent historical centers of the region. These events aim to foster the all-round development of individuals and to understand the socio-political processes of the past and present.

Cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine attended the presentation of the book “Treasures of Oleksandr Pol” by Nataliya Devyatko. The event took place at the Central City Library of Dnipro.

The book tells the story of the famous public figure, archaeologist, and industrialist Oleksandr Pol, who lived in the region of Katerynoslav in the 19th century. In it, the author not only provides fascinating biographical details but also forms a psychological portrait of an exceptional figure in the history of the region.

“Pol collected one of the largest private archaeological collections, contributed to the construction of an important railway branch and a unique bridge across the Dnipro. He was involved in the industrial extraction of iron ore and the building of steel plants, was an active zemstvo official, and a judge. His contribution to the economic and industrial development of Dnipropetrovsk region is invaluable,” shared the students.

After the presentation, the cadets viewed an art exhibition by Olena Lytka.

Future law enforcement officers also attended the premiere of the film “Porcelain War”, a Ukrainian film that became an Oscar nominee in the category of “Best Feature Documentary.”
