Second-year cadets of the Institute of Training Specialists for Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs participated in a binary class.
The event was organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of DSUIA with the participation of Senior Lieutenant of Police Oleksandra Kovalenko, an inspector of the Department for Organizing the Activities of Temporary Detention Facilities and Monitoring Actions with Detainees of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region.
The purpose of the class was to familiarize cadets with the organization of temporary detention facilities of the National Police of Ukraine, particularly with the fundamental principles of the Custody Records system. This system plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency in police activities and protecting the rights of detainees. Thanks to this system, all parties involved receive appropriate protection: detainees—from potential rights violations, and law enforcement officers—from unfounded accusations.
During the class, cadets acquired knowledge and practical skills regarding the procedure for admitting individuals to temporary detention facilities, the organization of their operations, and compliance with the requirements for the separate detention of different categories of detainees.
Additionally, current issues related to ensuring the rights of detainees were discussed, considering Ukrainian legislation, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
The knowledge and practical experience gained by the cadets will serve as a solid foundation for their future professional activities.
