First Aid Training for DSUIA Students

Students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) took part in a training session conducted by the Department of Tactical and Special Training.

The event was held at DSUIA’s Center for First Aid and Tactical Medicine. Associate Professor of the Department, PhD in Law, Police Lieutenant Colonel Oksana Myslyva introduced the students to the fundamentals of providing pre-medical assistance depending on the type of injuries.

The session followed the standardized Tactical Combat Casualty Care Combat Lifesavers Course (TCCC CLS), developed by the Joint Trauma System for tactical medicine, as well as the program of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine titled “First on the Scene,” aimed at providing emergency first aid to individuals in critical conditions.

The latter program covers procedures for responding to victims at the scene with closed and open fractures and their immobilization; soft tissue injuries; bleeding; the use of hemostatic agents and wound dressing; performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults, children, and newborns; assistance in cases of burns, intoxication, shock; as well as medical triage during mass casualty incidents and evacuation of victims under complex operational conditions.

The training emphasized providing assistance in crisis situations, modern approaches to assembling individual first aid kits, and the appropriate use of their contents.

In addition, students learned to use tourniquets effectively and practiced proper application techniques on limbs.
