The Best Have Been Chosen: DSUIA Hosts Track and Field Championship

The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs hosted its annual athletics championship with the participation of cadets and lyceum students. The winners of the tournament will form the university’s athletics team to represent DSUIA at regional and national competitions.

The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, followed by a moment of silence. Attendees bowed their heads in honor of the soldiers and civilians who lost their lives due to the Russian armed aggression.

Vice-Rector of DSUIA, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Kovalov, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Special Physical Training, Police Major Serhii Petrenko, addressed the participants with welcoming words. They wished the athletes success and announced the main rules of the competition.

The championship featured teams from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine, the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine, the Educational and Scientific Institute for Preventive Activity Units of the National Police of Ukraine, and the Dnipro Lyceum of Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev. Each team was represented by six participants—five men and one woman.

On the DSUIA stadium, athletes competed in three running distances: 1000 m, 3000 m, and 5000 m. The performances were judged by a qualified panel.

 

Top results were achieved by the following participants:

1000 meters (men):

1st place – Oleksandr Prokudin (3:04 min)

2nd place – Dmytro Lyudera (3:09 min)

3rd place – Maksym Trubkin (3:17 min)

 

1000 meters (women):

1st place – Alina Sliunina (4:18 min)

2nd place – Viktoriia Kulish (4:34 min)

3rd place – Iryna Petrychenko (4:35 min)

 

3000 meters:

1st place – Ruslan Smyrnov (12:15 min)

2nd place – Leonid Myshniov (12:37 min)

3rd place – Oleksii Nankevych (12:42 min)

 

5000 meters:

1st place – Andrii Koliada (20:44 min)

2nd place – Andrii Chernyshenko (23:11 min)

3rd place – Mykola Trykozenko (23:13 min)

 

Team Standings:

1st place – Educational and Scientific Institute for Preventive Activity Units of the NPU

2nd place – Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the NPU

3rd place – Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the NPU

 

The championship aimed to improve the athletic skills and physical endurance of the university’s athletes, as well as to develop practical abilities, competencies, and foster moral and psychological qualities among future police officers. All participants were awarded commemorative certificates and medals.
