Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) hosted an open table tennis championship for veterans undergoing rehabilitation in the city’s medical facilities. The event was joined by defenders and representatives of the Veterans’ Council of the Solonianska Territorial Community in Dnipropetrovsk Region.

The championship was opened by DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Kovalov, who wished the participants sportsmanship and victory.

Athletes were also greeted by 2025 Invictus Games participants Viacheslav Kaistro and Demian Dudlia.

Ten veterans competed in the tournament, judged by Ukraine’s table tennis champion Vasyl Koval. The competition followed the Olympic system.

The winner was veteran Vitalii Pobyivovk, who claimed first place.

DSUIA Rector, Police Colonel Oleksandr Morhunov, congratulated the participants and winners, presenting medals and memorable gifts—table tennis rackets and Easter cakes. He thanked the veterans for their heroism, protection, and courage, and wished them further sporting achievements.

Cadets of DSUIA and students of the Dnipro Security-Oriented and National-Patriotic Education Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev under the Ministry of Internal Affairs greeted the veterans and presented them with handmade pysanky (Easter eggs).

The event was held as part of the “Friendly Support” project by the Department of Education, Science, and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
