Participants of the training on open-source intelligence in criminal investigations received certificates.
Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) concluded a training on the use of OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) in criminal investigations. The event was organized by the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine in collaboration with DSUIA.
The training was attended by cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies and the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine, as well as university faculty members.
The three-day course consisted of theoretical and practical components. Participants explored concepts of digital footprints, principles of metadata analysis, key OSINT tools, and platforms for open information search. The practical part included four case studies, allowing participants to apply their knowledge using open-source intelligence tools in simulated criminal investigation scenarios.
Special emphasis was placed on a binary lecture session featuring senior EUAM advisors Theo Mandoki (Sweden) and Juan Carlos Arras Lopez (Spain), focusing on “Internet Information Search.” Participants learned about digital security, OSINT information sources, and potential areas of application.
It was conducted under EUAM’s project “Operational Support in Priority Areas of Ukraine’s Civilian Security Sector Reform (2024–2027).”
DSUIA First Vice-Rector Ihor Mahdalina thanked the organizers for the training and emphasized the value of these skills for future law enforcement officers.
Upon completion, all participants received certificates confirming their training.
