A practical binary class was held for 2nd-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine, with the participation of officers from the Patrol Police Department in Zaporizhzhia Region.
The future police officers met with officers of the 1st Platoon of the 1st Company, 1st Battalion of the Patrol Police Department in Zaporizhzhia Region — Police Lieutenant Denys Haynatullin and Senior Police Sergeant Yuliia Zamotaieva.
The event was organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure in cooperation with the Division of Qualification and Specialization Training of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning at DSUIA. The session was conducted by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure, Mykola Repan.
Patrol officers shared their professional skills in distinguishing between family conflict and domestic violence. Special attention was given to the ability to communicate effectively with family members in crisis situations. It was emphasized that during interactions with incident participants, the tone of voice should be calm and balanced, and statements should be respectful. Showing pity should be avoided, as it may reinforce a victim’s sense of helplessness. It is also important to remain focused and not be distracted by unrelated matters.
The practical session concluded with cadets developing response algorithms for stopping domestic violence and eliminating threats to the life and health of both victims and police officers.
The experience gained will enhance the professional training of future police officers and improve their ability to act effectively in real-life service situations.
