Easter Basket and Pysanka Making: Students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Honored Easter Traditions

MIA Lyceum

On the eve of the Resurrection of Christ, the students of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after O. Hostishchev prepared a traditional Easter basket.

The event was initiated by the senior educator of the lyceum, Police Lieutenant Colonel Anna Dziuba.

During a roundtable discussion, the participants reflected on the spiritual essence and deep meaning of the Resurrection of Christ, which this year Ukrainians will celebrate on April 20. They discussed the holiday traditions: from the blessing of Easter baskets to the exchange of painted eggs and heartfelt greetings. Special attention was given to properly assembling the Easter basket — with traditional symbolic foods and the obligatory Easter towel.

Each participant shared family stories and memories, original recipes for Easter bread (paska), and interesting folk customs. The cheerful tradition of “egg tapping,” still alive in many Ukrainian households, sparked the most interest.

At the end of the meeting, the students formed a symbolic Easter basket and lit a candle that was passed from hand to hand as a sign of shared faith in a bright future. In that moment, everyone was united by one common wish — Peace and Victory for Ukraine.

In addition, the students took part in a festive competition called “Easter Pysanky.” Each platoon worked on their designs together with their class teachers. The event was held as part of the educational program “Technology – Project-Based Learning.” This initiative brought the students together in a relaxed and creative atmosphere, engaging them in exploring and preserving Ukrainian folk traditions.
