The event was organized by the Department of Scientific Research Organization of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The training was attended by DSUIA students and cadets, as well as pupils from the Dnipro Security and National-Patriotic Education Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev, affiliated with DSUIA.
Senior Researcher of the Department of Scientific Research Organization, Olena Shkurko, provided participants with an overview of the origins of rhetoric, emphasizing that this art remains highly relevant today as an essential skill for effective communication and human interaction.
The training focused on preparing for public speaking, covering key aspects such as the stages of speech preparation, types of speeches, and communicative qualities. Special attention was given to techniques for overcoming anxiety before speaking. Attendees watched a video featuring expert advice on preparing for public appearances and appropriate behavior during a speech, including effective gestures.
Participants were also offered practical exercises aimed at improving their speech delivery skills.
At the end of the session, Olena Lukianenko delivered a presentation based on her award-winning research project, which took a prize in a competition held by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is now being prepared for defense at the final scientific conference. Following her presentation, a discussion was held on her adherence to the rules of public speaking and the visual design of her report.
The knowledge and practical skills gained during the training will assist young researchers in delivering conference presentations, preparing reports, and defending their research, course, and thesis papers in the future.
