NEWS

A binary session, organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA), featured Denys Shulha, Head of the Educational Safety Service Unit of the Patrol Police Department in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Senior Police Lieutenant.

The session was held for participants of the “Educational Safety Service” course as part of the discipline “Role of Police Units ‘Educational Safety Service’ in Creating a Safe Educational Environment for Participants of the Educational Process.”

Denys Shulha emphasized the primary task of future Educational Safety Service (ESS) officers—ensuring an appropriate level of safety in general secondary education institutions. This involves identifying, preventing, and stopping negative phenomena in the educational environment, as well as effectively addressing their consequences.

Participants discussed safety issues, methods for identifying individuals prone to destructive behavior, and response algorithms for promptly addressing threats. It was highlighted that ESS officers perform three key functions: law enforcement, mentoring, and educational outreach.

Special attention was given to the personal safety of police officers while serving in educational institutions. The discussion covered the need for constant vigilance, timely identification of potential threats, and motivating students to uphold legality through personal example.

Course participants gained practical communication experience in interacting with educators and other units involved in resolving complex situations within and beyond educational institutions.
