Table Tennis at DSUIA: Ongoing Training Sessions for Military Veterans

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

Regular table tennis training sessions for military veterans are ongoing at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. These sessions have become an essential component of both the physical and psychological rehabilitation of Ukraine’s defenders.

The weekly training is organized by the Department of Special Physical Training at DSUIA within the framework of the “Friendly Support” project initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Education, Science, and Sports. The initiative is aimed at supporting veterans returning from the front lines and helping them adapt to civilian life through sport.

Table tennis was chosen for a reason — it is a low-impact sport that promotes coordination, reaction time, and endurance.

The sessions are led by Vasyl Koval, Champion of Ukraine in table tennis. Under his guidance, participants improve their playing techniques, practice serves and defensive moves. Beyond physical activity, the training sessions also contribute to the veterans’ socialization by fostering an atmosphere of support and mutual understanding.

DSUIA continues to stand with its veterans, providing them with opportunities for adaptation, development, and reintegration through sports and active recreation.
