UAWLE Training: “Stress Prevention and Burnout Management”

The event was organized at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) in cooperation with the Ukrainian Association of Women in Law Enforcement (UAWLE) and the Psychological Space “ProZHYTY” of Dnipropetrovsk region.

The opening speech was delivered by the moderator of the event — Larisa Nalyvaiko, Assistant to the Rector of DSUIA on Gender Issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.

The main goal of the training was to raise awareness among law enforcement officers about the causes, symptoms, and consequences of stress and professional burnout, as well as to provide practical tools for self-help, prevention, and psychological recovery.

Participants included UAWLE members and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

Speakers of the event were:

Yevheniia Hlaholieva – Head of the “Prostor Aktyvnykh” NGO branch, regional trainer of the “Suicide Prevention in Communities” program, active member of the International Association of Psychologists and Trainers Experts, the National Psychological Association of Ukraine, and the Association of Psychologists in Higher Education of Ukraine; crisis psychologist, brainspotter, and sexologist.

Serhii Vyshnevskyi – Head of the Psychological Support Department at DSUIA, active member of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine and the Association of Psychologists in Higher Education of Ukraine; brainspotter.

Svitlana Dmytrieva – Psychologist from the Psychological Space “ProZHYTY” in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Offline participants included psychologists from DSUIA’s Psychological Support Department: Alina Horodnychenko, Vladyslav Bidniak, Anzhelika Moroz, and Daria Artemenko.

Among UAWLE members attending were:

Tsagik Ohanisian, Senior Researcher at the Scientific Laboratory for Studying the Problems of Rights Protection for Persons Affected by War, PhD in Law, Associate Professor;

Tetyana Badalova, Adjunct of the Criminal Procedure Department at DSUIA, Police Major;

Yuliia Tkach, Adjunct of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at DSUIA, Police Major.

Key topics discussed during the training included:

Developing competencies for effective work in constantly changing conditions;

Building stress management, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution skills;

Mastering tools for self-regulation, professional burnout prevention, and activating personal resources to maintain and strengthen mental health — including a practical case titled “Self-Help+”;

Providing basic knowledge for assistance in crisis situations.

During the practical part of the training, participants engaged in art therapy exercises to deepen their understanding and apply the tools in practice.
