Experience Exchange: DSUIA Professor Participates in International Conference of Police Sections in Slovakia

The event took place on April 24–27 in the city of Košice, Slovakia, bringing together representatives from 13 countries.

Head of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory for the Study of Issues Related to the Rights of War Victims at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of DSUIA, Doctor of Law, Professor Oleksandr Yarmish took part in the 23rd Conference of National Sections of the International Police Association (IPA) of Central and Eastern European countries.

The main focus of the conference was on involving youth in the ranks of the IPA and improving police education in response to modern challenges.

Professor Oleksandr Yarmish, who has for many years chaired the professional commission of the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Section of the IPA, delivered a presentation on the specifics of training law enforcement officers at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs and in Ukraine under martial law.

Robert Neumann, President of the Austrian Section of the IPA, shared his experience in engaging young people in the IPA and enhancing police education. According to him, Austria is one of the smallest countries by area, yet its IPA section is currently one of the largest in the world, with over 31,000 police officers as members.

The presentation by Dr. Jozef Medelský, Vice-Rector of the Police Academy in Bratislava, also attracted great interest. He gave a comprehensive overview of the current state of the academy, its educational and scientific programs, and the institution’s development prospects in light of growing demands for police training.

The knowledge and experience gained during the conference will be incorporated into the educational process at DSUIA.
