Practical Officer’s Experience in Countering Domestic Violence

Second-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine at DSUIA took part in the event.

The binary class on the discipline “Prevention and Counteraction of Domestic Violence” was organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure in cooperation with the Department of Qualification Improvement and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning at DSUIA. The session also involved Senior Lieutenant of Police Artur Molodyk, Inspector of Platoon 1, Company 1, Battalion 4 of the Patrol Police in the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, Patrol Police Department in Donetsk Region.

The purpose of the event was to develop cadets’ practical skills in responding to cases of domestic violence, especially under martial law conditions.

The officer spoke about the specifics of the patrol police work in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, sharing his personal experience in handling domestic violence incidents. Particular attention was paid to safety procedures during call responses in such cases.

At the training ground “Prevention and Counteraction of Domestic Violence,” cadets practiced the standard police response algorithm in these situations. As part of the simulation, Artur Molodyk acted both as a police officer and a hypothetical offender.

To effectively respond to domestic violence cases, cadets applied knowledge gained from academic disciplines such as “Prevention and Counteraction of Domestic Violence,” “Police Activity,” “Administrative and Jurisdictional Activity of the Police,” “Administrative Liability,” “Tactical and Special Training,” and others.

The acquired practical skills will contribute to enhancing the professional competence of future law enforcement officers and serve as an essential part of their training for service.
