Combating Domestic Violence Under Martial Law

A binary class on the subject “Prevention and Counteraction of Domestic Violence” was held for cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine.

The session featured the participation of Police Lieutenant Colonel Andrii Petryniuk, Senior Operative Officer of the Department for Solving Crimes Against the Person of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Main Department of the National Police in Luhansk Region.

During the class, Andrii Petryniuk spoke about the specific challenges and procedures of responding to domestic violence cases during wartime. On the training ground “Prevention and Counteraction of Domestic Violence,” cadets practiced police response algorithms in situations where the perpetrator, armed with a firearm, threatens law enforcement officers and family members with a grenade explosion.

According to Andrii Petryniuk, criminal investigation is a calling that requires constant focus, resilience, patience, and significant time commitment. The work demands in-depth knowledge of the legal framework, tactical skills, psychological preparedness, quick thinking, and strong intuition.

The class contributed to the development of practical skills in ensuring personal safety and effectively responding to cases of domestic violence under martial law.
