The team from Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs took second place in the Open Championship in Military-Sports All-Around, held in honor of fallen police officers from Zaporizhzhia city and region.
The tournament opened on May 17 with the participation of notable guests, including the Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Ivan Fedorov, Secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council Regina Kharchenko, and Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Zaporizhzhia Region Artem Kysko. The event was also attended by the Rector of DSUIA, Police Colonel Oleksandr Morgunov, who welcomed the athletes and wished them success in the competition.
A moment of silence was observed to honor the police officers who died as a result of Russian aggression and in the fight for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
Teams from military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, Border Guard Service, State Emergency Service, National Police, Patrol Police, the youth movement “Baida,” and DSUIA competed in the tournament. Based on the results, the DSUIA team won silver.
In individual standings, DSUIA cadets also earned prizes:
2nd place: Andrii Nechytailo, weight category 60 kg (SR-334)
3rd place: Vladyslav Shatov, weight category 65 kg (SR-332); Vitalii Naumenko, weight category 75 kg (PD-332); Vitalii Stepanov, weight category 80 kg (PD-332)
