Students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education at DSUIA learned about the investigation of war crimes from Police Major Artem Arabadzhy.
As part of a session for first-year higher education students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, the Head of the Department of Theory of State and Law, Olha Kulinich, and Senior Lecturer Daria Lavrenko invited a practitioner — the Head of the Department for Investigating Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Investigative Directorate of the National Police in Zaporizhzhia Region, Police Major Artem Arabadzhy.
The purpose of the lecture was to familiarize students with the real-life practices of law enforcement in documenting and investigating war crimes, which have become especially relevant under the conditions of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine.
During the lecture, Artem Arabadzhy explained how the Ukrainian legal system operates in wartime, what principles of legal responsibility are applied to war criminals, and how proper investigation plays a critical role in ensuring justice and restoring fairness.
Such sessions are especially valuable as they reveal the practical side of the legal profession, contribute to the development of legal consciousness, and motivate future legal professionals to actively pursue learning and grow professionally in the field of human rights protection and national security.
