European-Level Exchange of Experience: DSUIA Representatives Completed Internship at the Lithuanian Police School

The visit took place within the Erasmus+ program at the invitation of the Lithuanian Police School.

The delegation to the city of Kaunas (Republic of Lithuania) included Acting Head of the Department of Firearms Training, Police Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen Zelenskyi, and Professor of the Department of Tactical and Special Training, PhD in Law, Associate Professor Vasyl Polyvaniuk.

During the intensive mentorship-based internship, participants became acquainted with European approaches to tactical, firearms, and medical training of police officers, as well as with teaching methods used in Lithuania to ensure public order and safety. Particular attention was paid to conflict de-escalation practices, risk management, legal aspects of the use of force, and tactical medicine.

During the visit, DSUIA representatives presented to their Lithuanian colleagues the changes in the training system for Ukrainian police officers under martial law and discussed potential directions for further cooperation.

The acquired knowledge is planned to be applied in teaching the courses “Tactical and Special Training” and “Organization and Execution of Special Operations by Units of the National Police of Ukraine.”

In addition, the gained experience will be used to develop new educational and methodological materials and serve as the foundation for professional publications highlighting the prospects for the development of police education in Ukraine in accordance with European standards.
