Facial Recognition Technology: A Session for Students of the Hostishchev Lyceum in Dnipro

MIA Lyceum

A training session was held for students of the Dnipro Lyceum for Security and National-Patriotic Education named after Oleksandr Hostishchev, conducted by Major of Police Dmytro DANCHENKO, Head of the Cybercrime Counteraction Unit of the Criminal Police Department in Dnipropetrovsk Region.

Facial recognition technology is one of the essential competencies of today’s cyber specialists. The lyceum students learned about how this technology works and explored online tools used for identifying individuals based on images.

Dmytro DANCHENKO clearly demonstrated how to correctly perform facial recognition from photographs, select similar images, and identify individuals based on digital traces.

The session also featured Senior Lieutenant of Police Alina DIABLO, a senior operative officer of the same cybercrime unit. She addressed key cybersecurity issues on social media, including account protection, enabling two-factor authentication, and appropriate responses to potential threats from malicious users.

Such sessions are extremely beneficial for teenagers, as they foster critical thinking, enhance digital security skills, and raise awareness of the current challenges in cyberspace.
