On May 23, a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Heroes of Ukraine was held at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The gathering brought together students, cadets, academic staff, and guests of the university.
Assistant to the Rector, Volodymyr Kovbasa, addressed the audience with words of gratitude and respect for the Heroes. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of those who, in different periods of history, defended Ukraine’s independence.
Honored guests of the event were officers of the Air Command “East,” servicemen of military unit A2533, and combat veterans — including Colonel Kostiantyn Khomiak, Chief of Armament of military unit A2533; Colonel Roman Kamyshenkov, Head of Air Defense Training; and Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Colonel Andrii Kruhlov, Senior Officer of the Air Defense Training Division. They shared their personal experiences with the youth and answered questions from the students.
As a symbol of deep respect and unity, the university presented the Heroes of Ukraine with the DSUIA flag — a reminder of the gratitude and support of the entire academic community.
The event concluded on an emotional note with creative performances by the university community. These included the song “Hory, hory, moya svicha” (“Burn, My Candle, Burn”) and a vocal-choreographic composition “Zhyty” (“To Live”). These heartfelt tributes honored the defenders of Ukraine and inspired everyone present.
Representatives of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education laid flowers at the memorial steles on the Alley of Heroes. This gesture became a tribute to all those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
