Cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine took part in a training session titled “Psychological Immunity: Counteracting Emotional Burnout and Stress.”
The event aimed to strengthen the psychological immunity of the students — a critical factor for their future professional activity, which is associated with high levels of stress and emotional strain. The participants discussed both internal and external resources that help cope with stress, including self-regulation, resilience, optimism, social support, and goal orientation. Special attention was given to the factors that contribute to stress and emotional burnout among cadets.
The practical exercises offered during the training helped participants release emotional tension, gain deeper insight into their own psychological traits, and improve skills for effective teamwork.
Angelika Moroz, a psychologist from the Psychological Support Department of DSUIA, emphasized that the cadets’ future profession involves constant contact with crisis situations, human suffering, aggression, and danger. This creates serious risks for their emotional and psychological well-being. Emotional burnout decreases professional efficiency and can lead to sleep disorders, apathy, depression, and other health issues. Trainings of this kind teach cadets effective stress-coping strategies, build psychological resilience, and enhance stress tolerance. According to the specialist, these skills are the foundation for maintaining mental health throughout a police officer’s entire career.
The organizers are confident that the training plays a vital role in developing practical skills for overcoming challenges, laying a strong foundation for psychological resilience, and is essential for successful, effective, and long-term service in the face of growing professional challenges.
