As part of ongoing cooperation with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region and in order to strengthen the practical component of the educational process, cadets of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs participated in the work of the Educational Safety Service (ESS) of the Kamianske District Police Department.
The awareness-raising mission of the ESS officers was joined by students from the Educational and Scientific Institute for Training Specialists for Preventive Units of the National Police of Ukraine, as well as senior police lieutenant Khrystyna Derevyanko, a lecturer from the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure.
After undergoing a preparatory briefing, the cadets were assigned to 18 educational institutions in the city. Together with the officers of the Educational Safety Service, they conducted sessions on the topic “Traffic Rules,” where they explained key road safety principles to children, simulated real-life situations that could occur on roads or pedestrian zones, and explored possible solutions.
In addition to these lessons, the schools also hosted physical activity breaks, joint lectures on patriotic education, and presentations of police work, including demonstrations of special equipment.
According to the organizers, this collaboration gives cadets the opportunity to practice communication skills with people of various ages, social statuses, and within the hierarchical structure of the police. The cadets independently took the initiative in preparing interactive sessions, showing readiness to complete assigned tasks and interact within their scope of competence under time constraints and in front of large audiences.
From the lecturer’s side, valuable insights were gained regarding the functions and operations of the Educational Safety Service, which will be useful for teaching professional development and specialization courses. As Khrystyna Derevyanko notes, the methods and tools used in training will now be more modern, practically refined, and accessible.
