Adaptive Sports: DSUIA Supports Veterans in Their Recovery Journey

NEWS

Adaptive training sessions for military veterans continue at Dniprovskyi State University of Internal Affairs. The workouts, held in the university’s gym, are organized by the Department of Special Physical Training.

Adaptive sports play a vital role in the rehabilitation and recovery of veterans. These training sessions help strengthen muscles, improve coordination and endurance — aspects that are especially important for individuals recovering from injuries. Individually tailored exercises assist in reducing chronic pain and maintaining cardiovascular health. Additionally, the sessions help lower stress levels, alleviate symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and restore veterans’ confidence. Group workouts foster a sense of camaraderie and promote social integration and reintegration into civilian life.

Qualified DSUIA instructors conduct the sessions, adjusting the programs to meet participants’ individual needs. The initiative is part of the “Friendly Support” project, launched by the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
