Cryptocurrencies and Criminal Analysis: DSUIA Cadets Master Modern Threats

NEWS

Second-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine took part in a class on the discipline “Use of Criminal Analysis by Criminal Police Units.”

The event was organized by the academic staff of the Department of Operative and Investigative Activity with the aim of introducing future law enforcement officers to modern challenges related to the use of digital currencies in criminal activity.

During the class, cadets explored key concepts related to electronic money, including virtual currency, cryptocurrency, the principles of blockchain technologies, types of crypto wallets, as well as the main approaches to identifying and countering criminal offenses involving digital assets.

Special emphasis was placed on the practical aspect — detecting publicly available information that may indicate the preparation or commission of a crime involving electronic money. Cadets had the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge by working with open sources and conducting their own criminal analysis.

Thanks to this training format, students of higher education develop analytical thinking, learn to respond promptly to modern digital threats, and acquire practical skills necessary for effective work in criminal police units.
