An elective session was organized by the Department of Operational and Investigative Activities at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
The session, titled “How and Why Criminals Use Cryptocurrency,” was held for 2nd-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine.
Cadets reviewed a presentation and explored key aspects: the concept of cryptocurrency, blockchain functionality, methods of money laundering via cryptocurrencies, types of crypto wallets (hot, exchange, warm, cold), their analysis, and interaction with crypto exchanges. Special attention was given to schemes for distributing narcotic substances using cryptocurrency.
Such sessions deepen cadets’ knowledge of modern methods to combat cybercrime, develop analytical skills, and prepare them for professional challenges.
