The Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs organized an introductory visit to the juvenile reception and distribution center for cadets of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Training Specialists for Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine.
The lecture and tour were conducted by Lieutenant Colonel of Police Valerii Chernov, Head of Juvenile Reception and Distribution Center No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk Region, and Senior Inspector, Police Captain Viktoriia Shevchenko.
The staff explained that the institution is unique in Ukraine as it specializes in the temporary detention of minors who have not reached the age of criminal responsibility but are suspected of committing socially dangerous acts defined by the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which a sentence of more than five years’ imprisonment may be imposed.
During the visit, the cadets became familiar with the organization of educational activities, the daily routine, living conditions, and the specific features of conducting interviews in the “Green Room.”
At the end of the visit, the head of the institution emphasized that the center’s mission is focused on education, behavioral correction, and the further referral of children to educational institutions.
