A working meeting dedicated to the development of adaptive sports in the territorial communities of the region was held at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration. Representatives of the Department of Special Physical Training of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs joined the event to discuss initiatives for implementing inclusive sports programs.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Department for Youth and Sports of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Yuliia Skliar. Participants included representatives of the “Invasport” Physical Culture and Sports Society, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center “Sport for All,” sports committees from the cities of Kamianske and Kryvyi Rih, as well as military veterans.
DSUIA was represented by the Head of the Department of Special Physical Training, Police Major Viktor Bohuslavskyi, and lecturer of the same department, multiple-time Paralympic champion Oksana Boturchuk.
The meeting addressed the concept of developing adaptive sports aimed at the social integration of persons with disabilities. Key objectives include the creation of accessible infrastructure, the training of coaches, the provision of necessary equipment, and the organization of training in sports such as boccia, table tennis, goalball, and sitting volleyball. Particular attention was given to the inclusive approach, the involvement of public organizations, and funding through local budgets and grants.
Such initiatives contribute to the rehabilitation, socialization, and realization of the right of people with disabilities to participate in sports, thereby strengthening their active involvement in community life.
