NEWS

At the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine, an elective session was held, dedicated to pressing legal issues surrounding the detention of a person by an authorized official without an investigating judge’s warrant under martial law.

The event took place at the university’s training ground “Investigation of War Crimes” and was conducted by police major and PhD in Law, Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Viktoriia Rohalska. Cadets studied theoretical principles and practiced the detention procedure in accordance with Paragraph 2, Part 1, Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, taking into account current legislative changes related to the legal regime of martial law.

Particular attention was paid to the step-by-step actions of authorized officers, proper documentation of detention in official procedural records, and the legal justification for the use of coercive measures.

The session was aimed at developing the ability of future investigators to make prompt and lawful decisions in complex conditions, where coordinated actions and adherence to the law directly impact not only the outcome of an investigation but also the protection of human rights and freedoms.
