10 veteran athletes representing Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs took part in the qualifying stage of the national tournament “Veterans Games” held in Poltava.
The event brought together 101 participants from 23 regions of Ukraine and became an important platform for demonstrating strength of spirit, resilience, and athletic skill.
The event was attended by the Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Nataliia Kalmykova, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Ruslan Prykhodko, and Iryna Vereshchuk – Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the results of the competition in the individual standings:
1st place – Yevhen Boiko (Category 4 – visual impairment);
1st place – Vasyl Koval (Category 6 – seated);
3rd place – Viktor Tykholaz (Category 3 – limb amputation);
4th place – Vitalii Sukhomlynov (Category 2 – general).

The following representatives were selected for the final stage, which will be held in Kyiv, in 5 categories:
● Severe limb injuries: Vitalii Sukhomlynov, Eduard Kyrylov
● Amputations: Viktor Tykholaz, Ruslan Belia, Valerii Kudenko, Artem Horobets
● Visual impairments: Yevhen Boiko
● Wheelchair category: Vasyl Koval
● Doubles (standing category): Viacheslav Kaistro – Serhii Kyrychenko
The team’s participation became possible thanks to the comprehensive support of the DSUIA leadership. The university systematically develops the veteran direction, providing real assistance to military personnel in rehabilitation, in particular through involvement in sports.
