Meeting of DSUIA Cadets with a Military Veteran: A Dialogue of Generations

NEWS

At the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, a meeting was held between cadets and military veteran Oleksandr Otrubyannikov, organized by the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work.

Cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies and the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine took part in the meeting.

Oleksandr Otrubyannikov shared his life and professional experience. Previously, he served in the State Security Service, and with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar”. After sustaining injuries in eastern Ukraine, Oleksandr was discharged from military service and recently joined the DSUIA team as an employee of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work.

During the meeting, the veteran spoke about the challenges of military service, the importance of discipline and responsibility, and discussed with the cadets the significance of professional skills for future police officers. He placed special emphasis on the development of stress resilience, the ability to work in a team, and, in particular, the correctness of actions when handling weapons.

The meeting served as confirmation of DSUIA’s systemic policy to support military veterans through employment and integration into civilian life. The event also contributed to the national and patriotic education of youth, the strengthening of respect for Ukraine’s defenders, and the formation of professional awareness among future law enforcement officers.
