A practical session dedicated to developing skills in providing initial psychological aid in stressful and extreme situations was held for trainees of the Primary Professional Training Center “Police Academy” at DSUIA.
The session was conducted by Vladyslav Bidniak, a psychologist from the Psychological Support Division.
Participants were introduced to the basic concepts, principles, specific features, and procedures of providing initial psychological aid to various population groups. Special attention was paid to modern protocols for stabilizing psycho-emotional states, particularly through video materials from Ukraine’s Territorial Defense G7, which illustrated effective crisis response techniques. A separate focus was given to the protocols for delivering traumatic news.
The practical part of the session included exercises simulating typical life and professional situations in order to reinforce the theoretical knowledge. The final stage was a discussion on applying these protocols when working with children and youth. During the discussion, trainees shared personal experiences and expressed their willingness to deepen their competencies in related areas.
This event contributes to the professional development of future police officers, as mastering psychological support skills and emotional self-regulation is a key factor in ensuring effective performance in the field of security.
