Another Step Towards Recovery: Table Tennis Training for Veterans at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs continues initiatives for sports rehabilitation of military veterans, organizing weekly table tennis training sessions.

The event was held by the Department of Special Physical Training. The athletes were trained by champions of Ukraine in table tennis Vasyl Koval and Valerii Melnyk.

Also, Vyacheslav Kaistro, a military veteran and participant in the Invictus Games, which took place in Vancouver and Whistler (Canada) in February 2025, took part in the training.

Table tennis, as one of the least traumatic sports, contributes to reducing stress levels, restoring motor skills, improving coordination, vision, and cognitive abilities. The sessions unite veterans of different ages, helping them find like-minded individuals and return to an active life.

In addition, representatives of the Veterans’ Council of the Solonyanska Community joined the Dnipro athletes, significantly expanding the geography of participants. Such an expanded team performs at national veterans’ games, winning prize places.

Such initiatives strengthen the physical and psychological health of veterans, contribute to socialization, and emphasize the importance of the importance of using the sports component in the rehabilitation of defenders.
