Military Veterans Share Their Experience with DSUIA Cadets

NEWS

At Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, military veterans who currently work as instructors of departments and are employees of separate structural units participate in the training and work with cadets.

The experience of veterans significantly enhances the practical component of cadet training, as they have experience of service in real, sometimes extreme conditions, which allows demonstrating examples of applying theoretical knowledge in specific life situations.

At the same time, veterans pay significant attention to the development of stress resilience in young people, teaching future law enforcement officers to act in complex and unpredictable circumstances while maintaining composure and effectiveness.

A special role is played by the formation of team interaction skills: relying on their own experience, veterans emphasize the importance of collective work, mutual support, and responsibility for the common result. They also share methods of effective communication — both in relationships within the team and in working with citizens in crisis situations. The example of service and the life path of veterans become a powerful educational factor for cadets, as they form a sense of patriotism, devotion to the chosen profession, and respect for traditions.

Thus, the involvement of veteran-practitioners in teaching ensures a harmonious combination of knowledge, skills, and values that are necessary for the formation of future security sector specialists.
