Every year on August 29, Ukraine observes the Day of Remembrance of Ukraine’s Defenders. This day was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated August 23, 2019, No. 621, to perpetuate the heroism of servicemen and volunteers who gave their lives for the homeland, as a reminder of one of the bloodiest events of the war in eastern Ukraine – the Ilovaisk tragedy.
