The eighth nationwide memorial run took place with the participation of the leadership of DSUIA and the Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev, as well as officers, cadets, lyceum students, and veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In total, more than 200 representatives of the university joined the run.
The event opened with a solemn performance of the National Anthem, followed by a moment of silence to honor the Defenders who gave their lives in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. The start was held simultaneously in almost all communities of Ukraine and abroad.
This year, the memorial initiative was supported by the Rector of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Oleksandr Morhunov, Director of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after O. Hostishchev, Kyrylo Nedria, Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Hanzha, Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Nadiia Zadorozhna, veteran-volunteer Oleksandr Pivtoratskyi, Paralympic track and field champion Oksana Boturchuk, and others.
Participants were offered three distances to choose from: 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km. The selected distance could be covered either by running or walking – regular or Nordic walking.
Each athlete ran with the name of a fallen Hero on their T-shirt – as a personal tribute of gratitude to the defenders who did not return from the war. This sports and patriotic initiative became not only a symbol of health but also a vivid expression of respect and appreciation for those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
At the finish line, participants of the run were awarded commemorative medals.
