Representatives of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) held a meeting with military veterans to discuss opportunities and directions for social rehabilitation.
The meeting took place at the rehabilitation center of the State Commercial Enterprise “Dnipropetrovsk Experimental Prosthetic and Orthopedic Enterprise.” DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Ihor Kovalov, presented the work of the Barrier-Free Driving School operating at the university. He outlined opportunities for veterans’ employment, higher education, and participation in professional retraining programs.
Emphasis was placed on organizing sports training for veterans. DSUIA offers sessions in table tennis, pétanque, and other adaptive sports under the guidance of experienced specialists from the Department of Special Physical Training. These activities promote physical rehabilitation, social adaptation, and psychological recovery for participants.
During the meeting, veterans were introduced to the vehicle used in the Barrier-Free Driving School for driver training and had a conversation with Oleksandr Movchan, a former special forces serviceman and current DSUIA employee, who shared his experience of adaptation and work at the university.
Representatives of the Regional Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast also attended, explaining the procedure for obtaining a driver’s license.
Such initiatives by DSUIA highlight the importance of comprehensive support for veterans, combining opportunities in education, sports, and professional development to facilitate their successful reintegration into society.
