«Champion Workout» Held at Dnipro Lyceum Named After O. Hostishchev

MIA Lyceum

As part of the event, students of the Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev participated in a set of physical exercises led by professional athletes.

The sports event was opened by the Acting Rector of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA), Ihor Magdalina, who congratulated the participants on the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine. In his speech, he emphasized that physical training is a vital component of the educational process in Ministry of Internal Affairs lyceums, as it aims not only to build physical endurance but also to instill discipline, determination, unity and team spirit among students.

The festive workout was conducted by renowned athletes: Dmytro Shelesko, an investigator of the Nikopol District Police Department, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, winner of the 2025 World Games, 2025 World Champion, two-time European Muay Thai Champion; and Yehor Skurykhin, an international-class Master of Sports.

Together with the lyceum students, they ran two warm-up laps to increase overall body tone, stimulate blood circulation and prepare the cardiovascular system for physical activity. The participants then performed upper body warm-up exercises, including shoulder rotations, push-ups, bends and stretching of the arms and back. Lower body stretching focused on the thigh, calf and shin muscles.

The athletes paid special attention to lunges on both legs, a fundamental functional exercise for strengthening leg and glute muscles. The final stage included jumping exercises such as “scissors” and “star jumps,” which combine jumping with simultaneous arm and leg movements to enhance coordination and overall endurance.

At the end, the athletes engaged in a conversation with the students, shared their personal experiences in training and competing, offered motivational advice and answered some questions.
