At DSUIA, an interactive training for cadets dedicated to preventing and combating domestic violence in wartime conditions took place.

The event was held jointly with the Dnipro City Center for Social Services. An interactive training on the topic “Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence in Wartime Conditions” was organized for university cadets with the aim of deepening their knowledge about gender-based violence.

The training was opened by the Acting Rector of DSUIA Ihor Mahdalyna and the Assistant to the Rector for Gender Issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa Nalyvaiko. They emphasized the importance of preparing future law enforcement officers for effective response to cases of domestic violence.

Key speakers were the head of the specialized service for primary socio-psychological counseling of the Dnipro City Center for Social Services Vita Volkova and the leading specialist in social work of the Mobile Brigade for Socio-Psychological Assistance to Persons Affected by Domestic Violence and/or Gender-Based Violence of the Dnipro City Center for Social Services Maryna Serdiuk.

Participants familiarized themselves with the types and manifestations of domestic violence, its causes and consequences through brainstorming sessions, watching the video “Break the Cycle of Violence,” and informational blocks. Cadets also learned about response protocols for cases of violence and contacts of specialized services. The issue of suicides that may be committed due to domestic violence and measures for their prevention was separately considered.

The training concluded with a question-and-answer session that contributed to a deeper understanding of the topic. Such events at DSUIA develop professional skills and a conscious attitude toward combating violence in cadets, strengthening their readiness for service in the National Police of Ukraine.
