Protection of Human Rights under Martial Law: Binary Lesson at DSUIA

The event, involving a practicing professional, was organized by the Department of Theory of State and Law of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education.

The participants were 2nd-year master’s degree students.

Under the guidance of lawyer Oleksandr Kozhevnikov and Associate Professor of the Department of Theory of State and Law Olha Chepik-Trehubenko, students, within the course “International Human Rights Organizations”, examined the institutional framework of the international human rights protection system.

Contemporary international legal institutions for human rights protection, including the UN, the Council of Europe, and others, were characterized. Special attention was devoted to the European Court of Human Rights and its significance in safeguarding citizens’ rights under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine. Oleksandr Kozhevnikov shared his legal practice in this field and highlighted the specifics of applying to the ECHR.

At the conclusion, Oleksandr Kozhevnikov wished the students success in passing the Unified State Qualification Examination and expressed hope that the acquired knowledge would be useful for graduates during the exam.
