The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine praised the spirit and motivation of young athletes who continue training and proudly represent Ukraine on the international stage.
From Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, the meeting was attended by Head of the Department of Special Physical Training, Police Major Viktor Bohuslavskyi, university cadets, and students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after Oleksandr Hostishchev.
Special attention was given to the story of Andrii Shevchenko – multiple champion of Ukraine, Europe, and the world in judo and sambo, and now an instructor at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. After sustaining a severe injury in the battles near Vuhledar, he returned to coaching and continues competing in adaptive sports, setting an inspiring example of courage and resilience.
As part of the event, athletes held an open training session in universal combat, hand-to-hand combat, mixed martial arts, sambo, karate, kickboxing, kettlebell lifting, taekwondo, and Muay Thai. Lyceum students had the opportunity to watch demonstration performances, communicate with athletes, and gain additional motivation for their own training.
The event was also joined by 2024 Olympic champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak, athlete-instructors, and students from various MIA educational institutions. They shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of sports as an integral part of a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The meeting demonstrated that sports unite young people, foster patriotism, and prepare future professionals for service in law enforcement agencies.
