The event was conducted by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure, Mykola Repan, and Deputy Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for Social Services, Olesia Bilko.
During classes on the discipline “Regulatory and Legal Aspects of Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence” at DSUIA, participants developed mechanisms of cooperation between police officers, who after completing the course will work in educational institutions, and specialists from social service centers as well as other organizations and institutions.
Olesia Bilko emphasized that protecting a child from danger requires comprehensive interagency cooperation and the application of clearly defined procedures.
The session reviewed the algorithm of actions in cases where a child is found in dangerous conditions and its sequential stages. In particular, the discussion included: detecting the danger by a teacher, police officer, or another person; assessing the level of risk to the child’s life and health; notifying the competent authorities in accordance with Article 25 of the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence” and Article 54 of the Law of Ukraine “On Education”—namely, the police, the child protection services, and, if necessary, emergency services.
The next step is documenting the circumstances and referring the child to social service centers or medical institutions. The final component of the algorithm is social support and monitoring of the situation, carried out jointly by child protection services, social service centers, the school, and police officers of the Educational Security Service.
