Representatives of DSUIA Took Part in the Round Table “EU Certified Training on Providing First Psychological Aid: Experience and Prospects”

The event was organized in a mixed format at the initiative of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine.

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in the event, including the Deputy Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the MIA – Head of the Department of Science, Innovation and Sports, Police Lieutenant Colonel Yehor Nazymko.

The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs was represented by psychologists Serhii Vyshnevskyi and Vladyslav Bidniak, who completed training under the cascading program “PFA ST” on providing first psychological aid.

Representatives of DSUIA shared their positive experience in implementing the program among future officers of the Educational Safety Service. Considering the specifics of police work, they proposed including the corresponding course in the mandatory psychological training for cadets of graduation courses, and also raised the issue of adapting the training program materials for providing first psychological aid to children.

The event was also attended by representatives of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENFOR), the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA), the National Psychological Association of Ukraine (NPAU), as well as the Head of EUAM Ukraine Rolf Holmboe. The participants exchanged practical experience in the implementation of the program. They discussed proposals for improving its implementation, development prospects, and adaptation to the conditions of martial law in Ukraine.

Representatives of European organizations emphasized the importance of further cooperation with Ukrainian psychologists, in particular within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. They noted that the goal of further implementation of the program is to create a standardized system of accessible psychological assistance according to European standards, which will help increase trust in psychological services and meet the needs of the population under martial law. In particular, EFPA President Sofia Ramal announced an initiative to consider establishing a unified representative body for all psychologists in Ukraine.

The practical significance of the event for the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs lies in further fruitful cooperation and support from international psychological organizations of the European Union.
